Depo Progestin Injection contains Natural Micronised Progesterone as an active ingredient.

Depo Progestin Injection works by preventing uterus from the exposure of estrogen therapy.

Depo Progestin Injection is used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the following diseases, conditions and symptoms:

  • Birth control pills
  • Synthetic hormone replacement therapy
  • Depo Progestin Injection may also be used for purposes not listed here.

Depo Progestin Injection Working, Mechanism of Action and Pharmacology

Depo Progestin Injection improves the patient’s condition by performing the following functions:

  • Preventing uterus from the exposure of estrogen therapy.

Depo Progestin Injection – Composition and Active Ingredients

Depo Progestin Injection is composed of the following active ingredients (salts)

  • Natural Micronised Progesterone – 150 MG

The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of Depo Progestin Injection. This is not a comprehensive list.

  • Excessive gas in stomach
  • Weight gain
  • Fluid retention leading to swelling

Depo Progestin Injection – Precautions & How to Use

Before using Depo Progestin Injection, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.).

Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.

  • Can cause dizziness and drowsiness
  • Can cause fluid retention
  • Do not operate any heavy machinery or drive
  • Do not use if suffering from hyperplasia

Depo Progestin Injection – Drug Interactions

If you use other drugs or over the counter products at the same time, the effects of Depo Progestin Injection may change.

This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Depo Progestin Injection may interact with the following drugs and products:

  • Carbamazepine
  • Itraconazole
  • Phenobarbital
  • Phenytoin
  • Rifampin
  • john’s wort

Depo Progestin Injection – Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Depo Progestin Injection is a contraindication. In addition, Depo Progestin Injection should not be used if you have the following conditions:

  • Abnormal genital bleeding
  • History of breast cancer
  • Hypersensitivity
  • Liver dysfunction
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Suspected pregnancy
